The nurses took these pictures in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at John Hopkins University Hospital, Baltimore, Md.
When they pushed Suzanne's bed through the doors, the unit was directly in front of us. A nurse sat pushed up to the foot of his bed, in an attitude of totally focussed attention. His face was turned toward us, and a little wrinkle face dog kept him company.
Does anybody believe that wasn't posed?

They pushed Suzanne's bed into the unit to let her see our new little boy. He really is very pretty. I got to see him before they put those horrible drops into his eyes and made his face all swollen.
It was a scary evening, but like the best adventures, it had a happy ending.
Dennis was so overcome, he cried in the NICU - but I guess they must see a lot of that.
