I think this outing was the high-point of the trip.
They got into a helicopter and flew away over the sea, to the land
of the ice bergs.
From the helicopter there was a spectacular view.
And remember, until a year ago, Barbara WOULD NOT fly at all.
They landed on a glacier. Mother said, "That's all right. I'll wait
here."
But the pilot said, "Oh, no you won't. I didn't bring you out here
to have you sit in the helicopter."
Mother said he never let go of her even once. He took her to the edge
of crevices and let her look down.
She said she had never seen such a color of blue.
Mother tells me this is how the glaciers are formed. The water runs
down and re-freezes.
They returned to civilization and a bird tried to eat Mother's head.
