For her 90th birthday, Barbara and I gave Mother a cruise to the glaciers of Alaska. Barbara sold her house and went on the trip. I had to stay home and work.
When Mother got home, I asked if I could see her pictures. She said, "Barbara spent an hour putting these in the right order, and she said not to get them mixed up."
Then she dropped them all on the floor.
It was just as well. Can anybody really see a stack of 100 pictures staying in order while being looked at by Germans, children and Suzanne?
The quality of these pictures is pretty bad. They are polaroids, and I guarantee, what you see here is at least as good as you would see if you held the original in your hand.
I think this was taken during one of their stops, but it looks like Mother is waiting to board the ship, so I'll put it here at the beginning.
Mother at the Dock in Juneau, Alaska.
Here is a picture of somebody - I think it's Barbara - on the deck
of the ship.
Looks like there's a ramp, and Mother must have shot the picture from
the other side.
Here's mother at the rail.
And here's Barbara standing on deck. Looks like she might have taken the picture of the town from there. She is carrying a sweater or something, so I'm thinking it must have been warm enough, even if they were up there in Alaska.
All the rooms in the ship were spectacular. This is a picture of Barbara in the chapel.
This is the floor of the chapel. Mother wanted a picture of it so Beverley
can copy it in their bathroom.
Here she is in the Jungle Room.
Here's Mother in the same room.
Here is mother in the corridor of the ship.
