As usual, it's the kids who really know what to do at a party. Here are Lauren and Alexa with a plate of snacks. That's my back behind the candlestick. I don't remember this, but my position is very familiar to me. There's a baby down there somewhere and I'm about to haul it onto my lap. I have no idea who the head is in the bottom of the photo.

Too bad you can't see all the daisies embroideried along the bottom
of the smocking.
Here is Pat, Carrie's mother-in-law and smocker extraordinaire.
This is Jim. Jim is Carrie's father in law. He lives in Pennsylvania, but he drove to Mississippi and brought Carrie and her two babies to the party in Maryland.
Carrie has very good in-laws.
This is Lorena. She has known Beverley for years, and seemed
surprised to meet Barbara and me and discover that we are "nice." I liked
her a lot. A new friend.
This is my mother and her friend, Alice. Alice is very sweet. The people
in the door are Lauren in the yellow dress (She is my son's 8 yr old daughter)
and her brother, Aidan, who is the Carroll County Millineum Baby, born
19 minutes after midnight on January 1. Alexa is in blue beside them and
behind her is Pat C.'s au pair helper, Dana, from Yugoslavia.
